Emma Watson Replaces Emma Stone in Greta Gerwig's LITTLE WOMEN

Emma Watson has been tapped to replaced Emma Stone in Greta Gerwig's LITTLE WOMEN, according to Variety.

Stone is unable to join the project because of promotional obligations for the FOX Searchlight film THE FAVOURITE.

Since roles are being worked out still, there's no word on who Watson will be playing. Meryl Streep, Laura Dern, Saoirse Ronan, Timothee Chalamet, and Florence Pugh are also in negotiations to star in the film adaptation of the best-selling novel.

LITTLE WOMEN follows sisters Amy, Jo, Beth and Meg, and their mother in Civil War-era Massachusetts as they navigate growing up, first loves and Christmas without their father.

Gerwig wrote the screen adaptation of the novel. Amy Pascal will produce alongside Denise Di Novi and Robin Swicord.

Watson could be last seen in Disney's live-action BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, and also opposite Tom Hanks in THE CIRCLE.
