As reported on Deadline.com, MAD MEN actress Elisabeth Moss is set to star in an upcoming miniseries titled TOP OF THE LAKE on the BBC. Moss is currently in final negotiations to play the lead in the six-hour miniseries which will be written and directed by Jane Campion and produced by Emile Sherman and Iain Canning of 'The King's Speech'. The script is co-written by Campion and Gerard Lee.

The series will tell the story of detective Robin Griffin, played by Moss, who is looking into the mysterious disappearnace of a 12-year-old pregnant girl who happens to be the daughter of a local drug lord.  It is rumored that the Sundance Channel is interested in picking up the series in the U.S.

MAD MEN's Season 5 is currently being filmed and is slated to debut in March 2012.  Moss will film the miniseries during her hiatus from that show.  The actress has earned 3 Emmy nominations from the AMC series.

Filming of TOP OF THE LAKE is set to begin in New Zealand in January of 2012.
