Premium television network EPIX® today announced the premiere of the original documentary film STRAIGHT/CURVE, an incisive and poignant exploration of society's unrealistic beauty standards and their damaging effects on the industry's target audience: women and girls. The documentary will debut on EPIX on Wednesday, June 21 at 8:00PM ET/PT, 7:00PM CT.

"Straight/Curve takes a bold offense against today's pervasive, ceaseless reinforcement of unhealthy messaging around body image, and provides a voice - and a vision - for those affected by the social crisis perpetuated by our culture's unattainable and unnatural standards of beauty," said Mark Greenberg, President and CEO, EPIX. "With sharp perspectives from both industry veterans and young, impressionable consumers alike, Straight/Curve is exactly the kind of culturally-relevant filmmaking our viewers have come to find on EPIX."

Ninety percent of young women and girls say they do not feel represented in the fashion industry or in media, and that the imagery they consume on a daily basis makes them feel "disgusting" and "less than." Straight/Curve examines the industries and obstacles responsible for this body image crisis and showcases the dynamic leaders fighting for more diversity of size, race and age. At a time when the human brain processes images 60,000 times faster than words, Straight/Curve sets out to change the imagery we are seeing and to bolster a movement that is redefining our culture's unrealistic and dangerous standards of beauty to impact society at large.

The film is directed by Jenny McQuaile and produced by Jess Lewis, Jenny McQuaile and Yael Melamede through STRAIGHT/CURVE and SALTY Features. It is executive produced by Jocelyn Diaz, Ross Bernard and Jill Burkhart; Valerie Bishop Pearson serves as producer.

Also upcoming on EPIX is the previously-announced comedy special, Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally - Summer of 69: No Apostrophe, which will debut on Friday, May 19 at 10:00PM ET/PT, 9:00PM CT. In addition to its original documentaries and specials, EPIX will continue its rollout of original scripted series this year, with the debut of the 10-episode dark comedy Get Shorty (starring Chris O'Dowd and Ray Romano) as well as the season two premieres of its timely, critically-acclaimed returning series: drama Berlin Station and comedy Graves (which garnered a Golden Globe nomination for star Nick Nolte).
