'Downton Abbey' Star Richard E. Grant Joins Cast of GAME OF THRONES

Variety reports that Richard E. Grant, who portrays art historian Simon Bricker in the PBS historical drama DOWNTON ABBEY, has joined the Season 6 cast of HBO's GAME OF THRONES in an undisclosed role. The actor will join fellow Brits Jonathan Pryce and Ian McShane as new cast members for the HBO drama.

Grant was recently seen as Ian Margrove on USA's "Dig," as well as "Doctor Who" villain the Great Intelligence and Jasper in Lena Dunham's "Girls." He is expected to appear in multiple episodes of 'Thrones.'

Other recently announced cast additions to Season Six of GAME OF THRONES include "UnREAL" actor Freddie Stroma as Dickon Tarly, "Borgen" star Pilou Asbæk as Euron Greyjoy, Ian McShane in an unspecified role and Max von Sydow as the Three-Eyed Raven.

The new season of GAME OF THRONES will premiere on HBO in April of 2016.
