Director Scott Derrickson to Return for DOCTOR STRANGE Sequel

Director Scott Derrickson is set to return for the sequel to Disney/Marvel's Doctor Strange, according to Deadline.

Benedict Cumberbatch will reprise his role as the title character, who was last seen in Avengers: Infinity War.

Stephen Strange was a brilliant but arrogant neurosurgeon who, after a career-ending accident, discovers a world of sorcery, magic and world-bending dynamics that inevitably turns him into a superhero figure.

Doctor Strange opened in 2016 with an $85 million dollar weekend domestic box office take and went on to gross $677 million worldwide.

The sequel is expected to hit theaters in 2021.
