In the intense preseason leading up to the Opening Tournament, Club León earned a record of 4 wins, 1 tie and 2 defeats. Its last match was a decisive 3-1 victory over América in Sacramento, California. León won its seventh championship and second consecutive title after defeating Pachuca 4-3 in the 2014 Closing Tournament final. Fresh from their participation with the Mexican national team at the FIFA World Cup in Brazil, Rafa Márquez, José Juan "Gallito" Vázquez and Carlos Alberto "Gullit" Peña are back to help their home team seek the triple championship.
