ShockTillYouDrop.com reports that David Lindsay-Abaire has confirmed reports that he will write a screenplay for an upcoming remake of POLTERGEIST. Lindsay-Abaire revealed the news at a recent screening of Dreamworks Animation Rise of the Guardian, which he also wrote.

The writer has been rumored to be involved in the project for the past 15 months, yet in recent interviews he has commented that he had not yet committed to the film. Earlier in the year, Sam Raimi had signed on to produce the remake of the classic horror film. According to the report, the screenwriter said that it was Raimi who asked him if he wanted to come on board for Poltergeist.

Lindsay-Abaire told ShockTillYouDrop that he was a huge fan of the original movie and hoped to pay tribute to it with his updated version.
