According to The Hollywood Reporter, Daniel Radcliffe has signed on to star in Douglas McGrath's BROOKLYN BRIDGE. Filming will get underway in August. No further casting announcements have been made at this time.

Based on real-life events, the story follows "a brilliant but inexperienced engineer who is left to oversee the construction of the Brooklyn Bridge when his father passes away. Besieged by calamity, danger and doubt, his obsession to get the job done threatens his health and his family until he discovers an improbable ally in his charming and shrewd wife."

Goldcrest Films managing director Degove commented, "Having Daniel's involvement is a massive coup for the film. Not only is he perfect for the role, but he's consistently proved himself to be one of the very few actors who is genuinely a massive draw for audiences of all ages."

Added the film's producer Christine Vachon, "We love Doug's extraordinary script and working with Daniel is one of the rare treats in the business ... this is thrilling for everyone at Killer."

Radcliffe's recent film work includes roles in Kill Your Darlings, Horns and The F Word. The actor will next be seen on the big screen in Frankenstein. He also recently finished a run starring onstage in Michael Grandage's production of The Cripple of Inishmaan at the West End's Noel Coward Theatre.

The actor is best known for playing the title role in the 'Harry Potter' film franchise. He made his Broadway debut, to much acclaim, in Equus, and made his Broadway musical debut as J. Pierrepont Finch in the recent revival of the Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning How to Suceed in Business Without Really Trying.
