DIARRA FROM DETROIT Sets Season 2 Premiere on Paramount+

Paramount+ has revealed the premiere date for season two of Diarra From Detroit, the dark comedy series from creator, writer, executive producer, and star Diarra Kilpatrick. The eight-episode second season will debut on the streamer with two episodes on Wednesday, July 29.

Created by and starring Kilpatrick, season two finds Diarra Brickland unsuccessfully trying to have a hot girl summer without getting wrapped up in yet another deeply unserious and extremely dangerous Detroit mystery.

This time around, what starts as a seemingly harmless furniture recovery mission quickly spirals into a triple homicide investigation, a citywide treasure hunt and another trip deep into Detroit’s criminal underbelly. As Diarra attempts to sort out her messy relationship status, she instead finds herself going undercover with a secret society, starring in a Tubi movie, chasing urban legends, dodging gang warfare, and uncovering secrets buried beneath the city itself.

The series stars Kilpatrick, DomiNque Perry, Broadway alum Bryan Terrell Clark and Jon Chaffin with Shannon Wallace, Tony Award-winner Phylicia Rashad and Tony Award-nominee Harry Lennix returning.

The new season also features an all-star lineup of guest stars, including Cliff “Method Man” Smith, Morris Chestnut, Glynn Turman, Bokeem Woodbine, Amber Riley, Lil Rel Howery, Lovie Simone, Shoniqua Shandai, Nicco Annan, Skilla Baby, Icewear Vezzo, Chris “CP” Powell, and Jude Demorest.

Diarra From Detroit is executive produced by Kilpatrick, Kenya Barris and Miles Orion Feldsott, who also serves as showrunner, and produced by BET Studios and Khalabo Ink Society. The first season earned multiple nominations from both the NAACP IMAGE AWARDS and INDEPENDENT SPIRIT AWARDS and Kilpatrick won a Gracie Award for Actress in a Breakthrough Role (Drama) for her performance.
