Christopher Nolan to Receive DEG Vanguard Honor

Christopher Nolan is scheduled to receive DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group's inaugural Vanguard Award during the 4K Ultra HD Summit on Nov. 6 at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Nolan, who's the Oscar-nominated director of films like The Dark Knight, Dunkirk and Inception, will receive the honor in recognition of his use of technology "to deliver increased scale and resolution, enhanced color and immersive audio to film audiences both in cinemas and in the home theater environment."

The 4K Ultra HD Summit is presented by DEG and the Ultra HD Alliance.

DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group advocates and promotes entertainment platforms, products and distribution channels that support the movie, television, music, consumer electronics and IT industries. Group objectives include: Providing a bridge between content providers and device makers to help drive sales of DEG member products and services. Supporting marketing initiatives to increase awareness and encourage ownership of home entertainment products including 4K Ultra HD, 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc, Blu-ray Disc and DigitalHD. Expanding education for members on emerging trends to prepare for further industry growth. Creating and implementing standards and best practices in the digital supply chain to improve efficiency.
