Deadline.com reports that Charlie Sheen has been cast in the role of President of the United States in Robert Rodiguez's upcoming film MACHETE KILLS.

The 'Anger Management' star announced yesterday that he will return to the big screen on his Twitter page:  “My fellow Americans,” tweeted the actor as he went on to retweet a previous post from director Rodriguez which read, "“I just cast Charlie Sheen in #machetekills as the President of the United States! Who better? More soon..”

Sheen will join previously announced cast member Mel Gibson in the sequel to 2010's 'Machete', starring Danny Trejo. The film follows a man who is drafted by the U.S. government "to track an arms dealer through Mexico before he launches a weapon from space."

Sheen has most recently been seen on TV in Spin City and Two and a Half Men and will soon appear in the new FX comedy 'Anger Management.' He made cameo appearances in the films Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps and 2011′s Due Date. Anger Management will premiere on FX on June 28. Machete Kills is set to be released in theaters in 2013.
