Celebrate the Holiday Season with Special Events at NYC Historic Sites

New York City's Path Through History (#NYCPTH) program-a statewide initiative promoting historic and culturally significant sites-highlights an array of winter festivities that are accessible by public transportation. These places provide fascinating off-the-beaten-track experiences for visitors of all ages and complement excursions to the New-York Historical Society, Museum of the City of New York, and other museums and collections in the five boroughs.
Whether it's the Holiday Pop-Up Shop at the Bronx Museum of the Arts, Cool Yule! at the Louis Armstrong House Museum in Queens, Charles Dickens performances at Trinity Church in Manhattan, birding with the Staten Island Museum, or New Year's Eve fireworks at Brooklyn's Grand Army Plaza that sparks your fancy, December is an ideal time to explore some of the City's most engaging attractions. After the reading, there will be a lantern procession to Trinity Cemetery and Mausoleum, where a wreath will be laid at the gravesite of Clement Clarke Moore (1779-1863), the son of Dr. Benjamin Moore, the sixth rector of Trinity Parish, and author of the famous poem.

Path Through History highlights historically and culturally significant sites and events throughout New York State. The program, introduced by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, builds on New York's already robust heritage tourism attractions. The initiative, under the State's tourism campaign I LOVE NEW YORK, is focused on thirteen themes including: Arts & Culture, Canals & Transportation, Civil Rights, Colonial History, Immigration, Innovation & Commerce, Native Americans, Natural History, the Revolutionary War, Sports History, U.S. Presidents, the War of 1812.
