The New York Post is reporting that Carol Burnett, considered by many to be one of the greatest comedic talents in television history, is set to return to the small screen.

NBC announced that the 75-year-old, multiple Emmy Award- and Golden Globe-winning actress will join the "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" cast as a special guest star, playing a former dancer who gets caught up in the murder of a young couple.

The episode, titled "Ballerina," will air on March 17 at 10 p.m.

Best known to TV audiences for her work on "The Carol Burnett Show," Burnett last appeared on Broadway in the Sondheim revue Putting It Together (although her play Hollywood Arms, co-written with daughter Carrie Hamilton, was produced in 2002).

Other Broadway credits include Moon Over Buffalo, Fade Out - Fade In and Once Upon a Mattress, in which she made her Broadway debut and rose to fame for her performance as Princess Winnifred. She has been seen on screen in Noises Off, Annie, A Wedding, The Front Page and more, as well as on TV in "Mad About You," "Mama's Family" and many others.

All new episodes of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" air on NBC Tuesday nights at 10PM (9PM Central).
