Benedict Cumberbatch Joins STAR TREK Sequel

Deadline.com reports today that film and stage actor Benedict Cumberbatch has joined the cast of the upcoming Star Trek sequel.

In 2010, Cumberbatch starred in the title role for Sherlock for BBC TV. He also starred in Steven Spielberg's WAR HORSE film adaptation - now playing in theaters - and last year alternated leads in Danny Boyle's production of FRANKENSTEIN. His othre theater credits include 'Hedda Gabler', for which he received an Olivier Award nomination Cumberbatch's Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy opens this Friday. 

He'll join Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, John Cho, Anton Yelchin and Zoe Saldana, reprising their Star Trek roles under the direction of J.J. Abrams. There's no word yet on what part the actor will take on in the movie.
