Balaban, Harbour, and Thompson Join Cast of 'The Convincer' Film

Bob Balaban, David Harbour, and Lea Thompson will join Alan Arkin, Billy Crudup, and Greg Kinnear in the upcoming film, "The Convincer." Jill Sprecher and Karen Sprecher wrote 'The Convincer,' and Jill Sprecher will direct.

The film focuses on a desperate insurance salesman who finds a rare violin.

David Harbour is known for his role as villain Gregg Beam in Quantum of Solace, as Shep Campbell in Revolutionary Road, and as Russell Crowe's source in State of Play. He also received praise for his role as Paul Devildis on a 2009 episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Harbour stars in the David T. Kay thriller film Isolation. In 2005, he won the Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his role in Who's Afraid of Virgina Woolf? Harbour has also appeared in the three part The Coast of Utopia series, The Rainmaker, and The Invention of Love.

Lea Thompson has appeared in Caroline in the City and has portrayed Marty McFly's mother in the Back to the Future trilogy. Thompson stepped into the role of Sally Bowles in 2000 in the revival of Cabaret as a replacement. 

Bob Balaban has appeared in several roles on Broadway. Balaban appeared as a replacement in the original run of David Mamet's Speed-the-Plow as Charlie Fox. He has also appeared in The Inspector General, Some of My Best Friends, and Plaza Suite. His film credits include Capote, Waiting for Guffman, and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
