"But the silence was unbroken, and the stillness gave no token, and the only word there spoken was the whispered word, "Lenore?"" The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe

Hayley, Elijah and Klaus are surprised to find a catered breakfast waiting for them in their courtyard. An invitation from Cassie/Esther to come dinner. They set the plan in motion to do a spell to figure out where Esther goes if she jumps bodies again, a plan that turns out to be quite needed. Elijah takes his new "student," Gia with him to see a new witch, Lenore, to cast the spell. Elijah doesn't seem all too keen to be mentoring Gia, which naturally means they're going to fall for each other, right CW?

Vincent/Finn meets up with Oliver to try and acquire him as yet another minion for Esther but Hayley has already recruited Oliver to infiltrate and report back. Good thing, as Lenore is captured and Oliver's first assignment by Vincent is to torture her into telling why Elijah visited. Oliver informs Hayley and she goes to help Lenore.

At the family reunion, Finn reveals to his brothers that Esther has reformed himself and Kol and she is there to do the same for Elijah and Klaus. The smug brothers scoff at his suggestions which brings out Finn's true self and reveals he hasn't really changed much. After Cassie/Esther's arrival inspires a Klaus tantrum, she jumps out of Cassie's body. Thankfully, Lenore's spell worked and Hayley is able to identify that she is now in Lenore's body. Lenore tells Elijah and Klaus that she will indeed save them by ridding the entire family of their supernaturalness. Elijah, not being able to resist being a knight in shining armor, agrees to help Gia much to Marcel's satisfaction.

It sounds like Cassie Lenore/Esther's plan is to rid the world of supernatural beings, but does that include witches? Because Vincent/Finn sure seems to be enjoying his sorcery. I can't imagine how Mikel is going to fit into all of this. I have to say, in that dinner scene, Vincent/Finn finally became interesting. In both TVD and this show, he has never been anything intriguing and all at once his angst and jealousy and frustration came out and I was, well, intrigued. Klaus and Elijah sitting there with their snarky smiles, they know they can still get the best of him. So has he really reformed as he has claimed or is he merely setting them up for his vengeance? But since he and Kol have been "cleansed" of their curse and are now on Team Cassie/Esther/Lenore, she is insisting that Elijah and Klaus will jump on that train too. Through flashbacks, we are led to believe that Klaus was always Esther's favorite, but in reality, she was weakening him to "protect" him. With that revelation, I just don't see Klaus switching to Esther's witch cure anytime soon.

What I Know:

  • Klaus' real dad was killed by Mikel... or was he? I mean nobody really stays dead.

  • Is it me or does Gia remind anyone else of Faith from BUFFY, THE VAMPIRE SLAYER?

  • They're really setting up a Gia/Elijah chemistry. If she hurts my dear, sweet, Elijah, I swear to God...

What I Don't Know:

  • Is Brother Henrik going to reappear too?

  • Marcel's motive to get Elijah on his team seems less than honorable, no?

  • So Kol and Finn are no longer vampires, but they can practice sorcery? So their "curse" doesn't include witchcraft? Or do I really not understand what's going on?

Lines I Love:

  • Klaus - Well her last invitation was an assassination attempt on all her children. I think we can assume that her intentions are decidedly foul.

  • Hayley - Every good story needs a wicked witch. It'll be all the more satisfying when we melt her.

  • Klaus - Well it was a challenge to find a good pairing. What wine goes well with treachery?

  • Elijah - You might reside, somewhat parasitically I might add, in another body but let me assure you, in 900 years your tedious sentiments remain quite the same.

  • Esther - Only those that know they're lost will ask to be found.

What do you think? Do you think Finn and Kol have truly changed? What is Marcel up to? Have you had worse family dinners? I know I have. Glad to see that THE ORIGINALS joined THE WALKING DEAD and THE AFFAIR in trying to reunite the entire cast of THE WIRE with the first appearance from guest star, Sonja Sohn. #wewantomar
