One of the standout, new scripted television series of last year was SLEEPY HOLLOW - which airs Mondays on Fox.

The show, which premiered to 10.10 million viewers maintained steady ratings throughout the entire first season - and an expanded second season was commissioned by Fox to air starting fall 2014.

If you're a fan of the show, you'll be able to follow it with the BroadwayWorld community as I recap each episode immediately after it airs.

There has been much speculation by the media and fans alike as to what we can expect for the second season. In an interview with the show's executive producer Roberto Orci, Entertainment Weekly revealed some details from the upcoming season premiere.

Fans may recall the last season ended with a cliffhanger - Sleepy Hollow Detective Abby Mills is stuck in purgatory (which takes the form of a doll house), while Ichabod Crane has just been buried alive by his son, Henry Parish. In the interview, Orci reveals that Season 2 will pick up immediately where Season 1 left off.

Orci also reveals that the upcoming season will be darker and scarier than the first; "I think that is fair to say-but without losing its humor. Some of the best humor comes out of being scared."

Orci also provides more insights as to a new plotline planned for Katrina, Crane's good-witch wife. "Katrina is able to see who the Headless Horseman truly is once again, and they get to flesh out their history. He gets to continue to pursue her as a love interest, and then the question is, is she really being tempted by this man slash god of evil, or is she potentially using his affections to find out more?"

For Season 2, it is also revealed that the show will introduce a new character: "Nick Hawley is an antiquities dealer in the way that Indiana Jones was. But our guy's a little bit more of a mercenary. He's been around the world uncovering artifacts, and he's not a particularly superstitious person."

To my great disappointment, nothing significant is revealed about the future of Abby's sister, Jenny - one of my favorite characters on the show. As the last season ended, she was hanging onto life by a thread - but if her character is killed off, I don't know how I will continue watching the show. (The last time I was this invested in a character's death was when Dumbledore was killed off in the Harry Potter series. Sorry, SPOILER ALERT... When Dumbledore was killed off in the Harry Potter series.)

The first season of SLEEPY HOLLOW became a sleeper hit after getting mixed reviews from critics (the show currently has a 64% rating on MetaCritic), but managed to gain a great number of viewers for its Monday primetime slot.

I was a big fan of the show as it provides the perfect amount of action and suspense, while still adequately moving the plot along without dragging. And if that's not enough for you - the writers still manage to sneak in the occasional side plot that doesn't derail the main story. If you haven't seen the show before, I think the best way to describe it is that it's an improved version FX's "American Horror Story" - not really scary, but it'll appeal to horror movie fans nonetheless.
