After a (literally) scandalous mid-season finale on November 20, two of our recappers thought it deserved a second look. Jennifer McHugh and Gabrielle 'Gigi' Gervais, logged on to GChat and cyberly rewatched the SCANDAL mid-season finale together.

Jumping right in from the beginning with Fitz and Jake arguing about Rowan's whereabouts in front of a near catatonic Olivia, our recappers relive every single tense moment of the episode that will keep us starving for more until January.

JM: Have you seen this already?

GG: Yeah. Have you?

JM: Yes.

(Olivia is in a holding cell face to face with her mother.)

GG: I still can't believe she even talks to her mother.

JM: She didn't seem all that surprised that she was alive either.

GG: Everything else her father makes her think is a lie, so maybe she doesn't believe anything he says anymore.

(Huck is at Kim's house begging to talk to Havi after Havi witnessed Huck killing someone.)

GG: Ugh, I feel SO terrible for Huck.

JM: Yeah man, he can NOT catch a break!

(RNC Chair, Elizabeth shows up at Olivia's office.)

JM: This one needs to go down

GG: Seriously, and that affair with the VP was so out of left field!

JM: It really was. He turned into a bad guy overnight.

(Elizabeth has released the photos of Cyrus and Mike to the Press.)

GG: And then there's Cyrus.

GG: This show doesn't showcase David Rosen enough for me. I love his character.

JM: Amen to that!

JM: I thought getting the Attorney General job would increase his role, but it's only made him more of a chump.

GG: Exactly! I thought that him having the B6-13 files would make him a major part of this season.

GG: Ugh, I miss James too, Cy.

JM: Me too. He's on MARRY ME now!

GG: Is he?! I had no clue! I'll have to check it out!

JM: It's a cute show. He and TIm Meadows play gay dads to the main character.

GG: That sounds so cute!

(Quinn warns Charlie about B-613 cleaning house as he may be in danger.)

JM: These two, however, are So weird.

GG: Oh, I know! Is it weird that I love this couple though?

JM: No, I think that's the desired effect. Makes more sense than she and Huck.

GG: I AGREE SO MUCH. That pair was so bizarre to me.

(Jake shows up to Olivia's to warn her about the Kill List.)

JM: Team Fitz or Team Jake?

GG: Ugh. I hate that question. :P

JM: I know. It changes every episode. Ugh, every 15 minutes.

GG: EXACTLY.There are pros and cons to both men. I just want her happy & stress free for once.

JM: They are both bad choices. But VERY easy to see why she'd want both.

GG: Agreed.

(David Rosen questions Abby and discovers her one night stand with Leo.)

GG: God, this scene breaks my heart.

JM: Ugh, this scene is so painful. Abby... Leo? Really?

GG: Right?! I mean I thought they only had that one kiss in the press room, but that was innocent.

JM: Me too. Like two pals.

JM: The realization on David's face is heartwrenching.

GG: I know. :(

JM: And from heartbreaking to downright disturbing.

GG: Why did they play Endless Love during that scene with David & Abby?

GG: That doesn't help ANYTHING. "Oh. Crap." That's all he had to say?

JM: You deserve better, Joshua Malina!!!

(Jake fails in finding Rowan as Rowan shows up at Olivia's.)

GG: Don't they know Rowan is always one step ahead of them by now?

JM: Yeah, I feel like Jake should know better than that.

GG: I'd hate to be at the Pope family's THANKSGIVING dinner.

JM: Haha! I think I wrote that exact thing in one of my recaps.

GG: Ha! Great minds. :)

JM: He is SO scary. And Olivia should know better too!

GG: When will they learn? And the sad thing is both parties are right.

JM: That always happens on this show. You can blatantly see both sides of every decision.

GG: I still can't believe she would have killed him, but I can't believe he was surprised.

GG: Right? That's the thing I like most about this show. It's never just black & white.

JM: Very good writing.

GG: Some of the best on TV if you ask me.

JM: It's just very complex because even the people you root for have done some horribly bad things.

(Charlie and Quinn share an intimate moment after beating the crap out of each other.)

GG: I hate that I love Charlie.

JM: Haha. It is a hard thing to admit.

GG: Olivia's conversation with her mother there was hard to watch.

JM: Yeah she is just as disturbing. That "See you tomorrow" is so cold.

(Olivia arrives at Cyrus with some tough love.)

GG: UGH. THIS CYRUS SCENE.

JM: Like it or no?

GG: It's one of my favorite scenes in the history of the show. Seeing Olivia snap him back to himself...brilliant.

JM: I honestly love Olivia and Cyrus' friendship. It is so complex. They have each other's backs like nobody else.

GG: Oh, I agree 100%.

(Elizabeth confronts Mellie about their "friendship" falling apart.)

JM: I LOVE that Mellie is back and smacks this crazy down!

GG: Oh, yes! I'm so glad she's out of her slump.

(With the files recovered from Charlie, Huck leaves them for Kim to read to prove what has been done to him.)

GG: I hope she reads them. For Huck's sake.

JM: For reals. Even if she can't take him back, I hope she gives him a chance to be a Dad.

GG: If his kid can get over watching him murder a guy.

JM: Eh, in this world that's a Tuesday.

GG: Ha! The truest of statements.

(Jake shows up at Olivia's.)

JM: Not gonna lie, I could watch Scott Foley dance all day...

GG: You're SO not the only one. :)

GG: He loves her so much.

JM: He does. Seeing her smile immediately wins him over.

JM: That's right, girl, you choose YOU!

GG: Yes! Team Olivia! Good question. "Where would I go?"

(The VP reveals to the President he has kidnapped Olivia.)

JM: And there it is!

GG: WHAT THE HELL ANDREW?!

JM: Jake knows if she dropped the wine, there is definitely trouble!

GG: He was so minuscule until this episode.Exactly!

GG: I do not want to wait until January to find out what happens.

JM: The END of January too. That's just cruel.

Final Thoughts

JM - What I am hoping for most for when SCANDAL returns is for Huck and Kim finding some way to work together at being parents, and Elizabeth being nailed to the wall, so to speak. And I really hope Cyrus finds a way to work through his anger and be with Mike. And for God's sake, give David Rosen more screentime.

GG - When January rolls around and SCANDAL returns to my television screen, I hope we have some insight about the VP's new found villainy, because I feel like that was just out of nowhere and I have a ton of questions. Also, where in the world is Olivia Pope this time?! I agree with Jennifer about Huck & Kim's relationship, Michael & Cyrus and MORE DAVID ROSEN!
