On this episode of BROOKLYN NINE-NINE, Jake has a streak of really bad luck and he thinks he's being sabotaged by an enemy. Holt assigns Amy and Rosa to investigate the truth. Also on tonight's episode, "Sabotage," Charles is stuck working a case with Scully and Hitchcock in Jake's absence and Holt hurts Gina's feelings by calling her dance troupe a "hobby." For the full recap, keep reading, but beware of SPOILERS!

Jake is having a string of bad luck! Monday: Jake comes in late because his alarm didn't go off. Tuesday: No hot water. Wednesday: His car ran out of gas and his clothes disappeared. Thursday: Jake failed his drug test. What!! Jake suspects that someone is trying to sabotage him. Holt puts Amy and Rosa on his sabotage theory and tells Jake that in the mean time he is suspended.

Since Jake is gone, Terry assigns Boyle a new partner--well partners: Scully and Hitchcock, which does not make Boyle too happy. Terry then goes and talks to Holt about the fact they both missed Gina's dance recital. Terry told Holt he lied for them and said they were there, because he doesn't want to let her down. However, Holt will have to tell Gina the truth if she asks, because he can't lie. Rosa and Amy are talking with Jake about his case, but they won't let him help out because he's suspended.

Jake is "sight-seeing" at Brooklyn Urine and Blood and "runs" into Amy and Rosa and tries join them on the case, but they send him home. Back at the 99, Holt tells Gina that he's sorry they didn't go to her performance, since it's a big hobby of hers, which offends her. Gina then announces to the precinct that she will never dance again. Meanwhile, Boyle is trying to work with Scully and Hitchcock, but he can't get either of them to focus.

Jake surprises Amy and Rosa by hiding in their car, but they still won't let him help, so he gets out of their car and they leave. While he's trying to figure out where he is, he almost gets run over by an ice cream truck! And when the driver gets out of the car, we find out it's Sophia's old boss, Geoffrey Hoytsman, who was arrested for possesion of cocaine, and he has a gun!

Hoytsman ties Jake up in the ice cream truck, because he blames Jake for ruining his life. Back at the precinct, Gina continues to make Holt feel guilty for calling her dancing a hobby. Terry points out that, although she doesn't care about what people think, she cares about what he thinks.

Scully and Hitchcock tell Boyle that they solved his case and prove to him that they aren't incompetent. Back at the ice cream truck, Hoytsman forces Jake to make a video confessing to all of the things Hoytsman did, like father two children with his cleaning lady. At the end of the confession, Hoytsman writes for Jake to say he's taking his own life, oh no!

Jake headbuts Hoytsman, but falls out of the ice cream truck and can't get up because he's still tied to the chair! Holt talks to Gina, and tells her she is a professional dancer because he's paying her dance team to perform two shows. Back in the ice cream truck, Hoytsman ties Jake back up. Amy and Rosa come to Jake's rescue, though, arresting Hoytsman. Jake apologizes for acting like a jack-ass, too. Back at the 99, Boyle tells Scully and Hitchcock that they are actually good cops and apologizes for calling them useless. The next day, Holt lifts Jake's suspension!

Hoytsman makes his return! I mentioned in my "Defense Rests" recap, the first episode he appears in, how badly I wanted him to come back, and I got my wish! Chris Parnell is such an incredible comedic actor and this character is perfect for him. I love seeing him interact with Samberg, and this time it was a much more dramatic setting. Nothing like holding Peralta hostage and planning on killing him for your second appearance on the show! Thankfully Jake didn't die, thanks to Rosa and Amy coming to his rescue. It was a sweet moment when Jake apologized to them, too, because he was realizing how he has a lot of deep seeded issues with trust he probably needs to address. I love the moments where Jake grows, becuase it's a nice contrast to his usual silly demeanor.

Continuing with Season 2's trend of unusal pairings, this episode we have Boyle teamed up with Hitchcock and Scully! Boyle unsurprisingly gets frustrated when he has to work with them, calling them useless and incompetent. However, Boyle was very wrong. Scully and Hitchcock solves Boyle's case using good ol' fashion police work, but when Boyle tells them he's going to let everyone know he was wrong and that they are good cops, they tell him no! Scully and Hitchcock don't want to be seen as "golden boys" and they want to be able to just sit in their chairs and do paperwork. Probably a good idea, though, because although they are good detectives, they have kind of lost their touch, I mean they threw a rock through a window to prove a point!

Finally, Holt learned a lot in this episode about his relationship with Gina. Not wanting to lie, Holt tells Gina he missed her dance show and that he felt bad since it's her favorite hobby. Gina is offended by what Holt says, and Holt can't understand why. After Terry explains that Gina really does care about what Holt thinks of her, Holt apologizes to Gina and makes it up to her by giving her a check for her dance troupe to perform two shows. Holt learns that Gina admires Holt and cares about his opinion, and I think he knows now that he has to be more careful with how he treats her. Even though Gina comes off hard and unphased by what people say, she still has feelings. I think this situation served as a growing point for Holt emotionally and hopefully reminds him that people have feelings and sometimes being too honest isn't a good thing.

Favorite lines from "Sabotage"

Jake: "I buy my jerky online from the worlds top jerk master."

Amy: "Talking about your finances makes me sweat behind the knees."

Jake: "I guess its just froth over friends with you two."

Jake: "while you two were busy lolly-gargling."

Holt: "Sarcasm: a coward's lie."

Terry: "They ate their lettuce, I'm stuck with two bunnies, and lying works!"

Hoytsman: "Drugs are so silly."

Jake: "I'm turtling, I'm turtling!"
