Deadline.com reports that Mayim Bialik, star of the CBS comedy THE BIG BANG THEORY is recovering after a car accident which occurred yesterday afternoon. Though the actress was hospitalized, a source says she will be able to return to work today to rehearse for the upcoming season.

TMZ described the accident as “tons and tons of blood everywhere,” reporting that Bialik’s finger was “almost completely severed”, but sources close to the actress say the injury was not that serious.

Bialik's career began with her portrayal of the young Bette Midler in 1989's "Beaches". She went on to star in the popular sitcom "Blossom" from 1990-1994. Bialik currently appears as Amy Farrah Fowler on "The Big Bang Theory." She just received her first Emmy nomination for her role on the hit CBS comedy.
