'BACCHAE' Star Mackie Set For Universal's 'The Adjustment Bureau'

Variety reports that THE BACCHAE Anthony Mackie, has been cast in Universal's "The Adjustment Bureau," with Matt Damon and Emily Blunt co-starring, and George Nolfi directing from his own script.

"The Adjustment Bureau" is Philip K. Dick's short story about a smooth-talking congressman whose political future is thrown in chaos by the arrival of a mysterious ballerina in his life. 

 "The Adjustment Bureau" will shoot in New York immediately following the final performance of THE BACCHAE.

Anthony Mackie (Pentheus) can currently be seen in the acclaimed film The Hurt Locker. He most recently performed at The Public Theater in The Good Negro for Public LAB and his Broadway credits include Drowning Crow and Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. His off-Broadway credits include A Soldier's Play; McReele; Talk (OBIE Award); Topdog/Underdog; and Up Against the Wind. His film credits include Notorious; Eagle Eye; Bolden; We Are Marshall; Ascension Day; Crossover; Half Nelson; Freedomland; Heavens Fall; Million Dollar Baby; The Man; The Manchurian Candidate; Haven; She Hate Me; Brother to Brother (Indie Spirit/Gotham Award Nominee); Hollywood Homicide; and 8 Mile.

THE BACCHAE (90 minutes, no intermission) run through August 30 at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park with an official press opening on Monday, August 24 at 8 p.m. Bank of America returns as lead sponsor of Shakespeare in the Park 2009.
