Annie Potts and Kim Zimmer Join TV Movie 'Freshman Father', Starring Drew Seeley

According to a report in Variety, actor Drew Seeley will be joined by Annie Potts and Emmy-winning soap actress Kim Zimmer in the film ‘Freshman Father.' Potts will play a surrogate mother to Seeley's character, a Harvard undegrad student who finds himself in over his head as he tries to balance academic and parental responsibilites. Zimmer will play Seeley's dean of the school. The film is based on a true story.

Potts is a TV and film star, notable for roles in Boston Legal and Designing Women. Zimmer has won four Daytime Emmys, including Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her work on Guiding Light. Drew Seeley was most recently seen as Prince Eric in Broadway's The Little Mermaid.

Michael Scott directs the film, which is based on a script by Bill Wells. Production is underway in British Columbia.

The film is slated to be released on the Hallmark Channel in 2010.
