In 2008, out gay comedian Adam Sank (The Today Show, Last Comic Standing, Vh1's I Love the 2000s) left his self-hosted weekly comedy show at New York's Therapy Lounge after a wildly successful three-year-run and moved to the West Coast - in search of fame, fortune, and a relationship with a U.S. Navy sailor.

Things didn't work out as planned.

"We broke up after a year and half," Sank says. "And the fame and fortune thing is still a work in progress."

Sank returned to New York full-time in 2010 and has been working steadily on TV and in clubs, colleges and special events around the country ever since. But on Tuesday, Aug. 23, after an eight-year absence, he will return to his former haunting ground for a special one-night-only engagement, along with some of his favorite "regulars" from the old days: Karith Foster (Comedy Central, VH1, Last Comic Standing, The Today Show, Oprah), Chris Doucette (named one the Advocate's "Best of LGBT Comedy" and Comedy 360 Daily's "Comics to Watch"), Keith Price (SiriusXM Radio) and, as headliner, the mother of all stand-up comics, Robin Fox (featured on NickMom's Night Out, and winner of the 2012 "Ladies of Laughter" competition and the 2010 "Gilda's Club Laugh-Off").

Also gracing the stage will be Therapy virgins Sergio Chicon (Funaticos and Los LOL on Comedy Central) and Jess Miller (Foxwoods Casino, Mohegan Sun), a recent finalist in the prestigious Devil Cup Festival.

"Therapy has always fostered the careers of up-and-coming artists, hosting shows on its postage stamp-sized stage since 2003," says Tom Johnson, Therapy's owner. "Currently we are cultivating our 'Legends Series,' where stars from our past will bring back some of their old tricks while introducing themselves to some of our new faces. We welcome Adam Sank's return."

Seating is limited. Get there early for a seat. No Cover Charge. 21+ with valid ID. Therapy Lounge | 348 West 52nd Street, NYC (Manhattan). Subway: C/E Train to 50th Street.

Adam Sank is one of the most recognized and accomplished openly gay stand-up comics in the country, having been featured on NBC's Last Comic Standing and The Today Show, FOX's Laughs, Vh1's I Love the 2000s and Best Week Ever, CNN's @ThisHour, CNBC's Street Signs and truTV's World's Dumbest Criminals, along with numerous radio appearances as both a guest and fill-in host on Sirius-XM satellite radio. His debut comedy album, Adam Sank: Live from the Stonewall Inn, was released on Christmas Day, 2015. It immediately shot to No. 1 on both Amazon's list of Comedy Album Downloads and iTunes's New Comedy Releases and was played in its entirety on Sirius-XM Raw Dog.
