It was reported today from Variety that actor James Franco is set to star in and direct a new biopic on artist Shel Silverstein. Chris Shafer and Paul Vicknair are penning the film based on the book A BOY NAMED SHEL by Lisa Rogak. Read the full article here!

Shel Silverstein is well known for his book FALLING UP and WHERE THE SIDEWALK ENDS, to name a few. Outside of being a writer, Silverstein was also a singer, poet, cartoonist, and screenwriter. The new film is set to cover both his creative life, and his personal.

Someone else who is no stranger to wearing many creative hats is James Franco himself. He is well known for his roles in films like 127 HOURS, PINEAPPLE EXPRESS, and TRISTAN & ISOLDE. He has also directed, written and produced his fair share of films. Franco is currently starring in THE DEUCE on HBO.
