ABC's GREY'S ANATOMY is TV's #1 Drama for the Week in Key Demos

Based on Nielsen's TV playback data for the week, ABC's Grey's Anatomy emerged as TV's definitive #1 drama for the week in Adults 18-49 (4.8 rating), leading runner-up CBS' Criminal Minds by 12% (4.3) in the final Live + 7 numbers. In the initially reported Live + Same day ratings, the ABC drama tied the CBS drama among young adults. In addition, Grey's was the week's biggest drama gainer in Adults 18-49 (+1.8 rating points).

Along with the week's biggest drama gainer in Adults 18-49, ABC also claimed the 2 biggest drama gainers in Total Viewers with Castle (+4.07 million viewers) and Grey's Anatomy (+3.76 million). Further, the winter finale of Nashville stood as the biggest gainer of any new series this week, jumping an impressive +1.2 rating points (+63%) to a 3.1 rating in the final Live + 7 numbers. The new ABC drama continued to top the time-shifted gains of NBC's competing rookie drama in Wednesday's 10 o'clock hour, Chicago Fire (+0.7 rating points or +37%).

ABC had 5 shows gain more than 2.00 million viewers from their initially reported totals via TV playback: Castle (+4.07 million), Grey's Anatomy (+3.76 million), Nashville (+2.79 million), Private Practice (+2.35 million) and Scandal (+2.33 million).

Among Adults 18-49, ABC delivered 4 of the Top 10 biggest time-shifted gainers (tying CBS for the most), with each show adding on at least +1.1 rating points over their first-reported Live + Same Day numbers: Grey's Anatomy (+1.8 rating - 3.0 to 4.8), Nashville (+1.2 rating - 1.9 to 3.1), Castle (+1.2 rating - 1.7 to 2.9) and Private Practice (+1.1 rating - 1.2 to 2.3).

Please note: ABC's Modern Family was a repeat this week, while the Net's Sunday line-up was pre-empted for the Hallmark movie: Christmas with Holly.

Season-to-Date TV Playback (9/24/12-12/9/12):

Based on TV playback data for the 2012-13 season, ABC's Modern Family is the season's biggest gainer via time-shifted viewing in both Total Viewers and Adults 18-49, adding on +4.43 million viewers and +2.2 rating points. ABC's Nashville adds on +1.2 rating points over its Live + Same Day number, standing as the season's #2 new show in time-shifted gains.

With Modern Family (7.1 rating) and Grey's Anatomy (5.1), ABC claims this season's #1 comedy and #1 broadcast drama, respectively, in the key young adult demo, based on original telecasts.
