Audra McDonald Returns to LA Opera May 20

The multitalented Audra McDonald, winner of a record six Tony Awards, will return to Los Angeles in concert with the LA Opera Orchestra. The concert will take place at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion (135 North Grand Avenue, Los Angeles CA 90012) on Sunday, May 20, at 3pm.

About the Concert
The Broadway legend brings her luminous soprano voice to an intimate evening of favorite show tunes, classic songs and original pieces written especially for her. Ms. McDonald's longtime music director, Andy Einhorn, will conduct the LA Opera Orchestra, joined by featured performers Brian Hertz on piano, Mark Vanderpoel on bass and Gene Lewin on drums.

About Audra McDonald
Audra McDonald is unparalleled in the breadth and versatility of her artistry, as both a singer and an actress. With six Tony Awards, two Grammy Awards (both stemming from her LA Opera debut in Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny), an Emmy Award, and a long list of other accolades to her name, she is among today's most highly regarded performers. Blessed with a luminous soprano and an incomparable gift for dramatic truth telling, she is as much at home on Broadway and opera stages as she is in roles on film and television. In addition to her theatrical work, she maintains a major career as a concert and recording artist, regularly appearing on the great stages of the world.

Acclaimed by The New York Times as a "one-of-a-kind musical super-talent," Audra McDonald was named one of Time magazine's 100 most influential people of 2015 and received a 2015 National Medal of Arts - America's highest honor for achievement in the arts - from President Barack Obama. She is currently starring in the CBS All Access drama The Good Fight. In addition to her work on stage and screen, she is noted as a passionate advocate for equal rights, LGBTQ causes, and underprivileged youth. To learn more, please visit AudraMcDonald.net.
