Wyclef Jean To Perform Tonight 3/14 at SXSW Heads Music Showcase, Plus New Album

Thanks to support from Dell, Ursa Music and a partnership with Blacklane chauffeur service, Wyclef Jean will headline a showcase at SXSW, tonight at The Parish, that features newly discovered talent from his new album Wyclef Goes Back To School, on Heads Music. Listen to the album here.

During the promotion of his last album, Carnival III, Wyclef visited various colleges such as Howard, Temple, UCLA, USC, NYU, UMass Lowell, and more. Each of his visits were wildly successful. Not only did Wyclef give a masterclass at each school, he quickly connected with students and made an impact on them. In turn, those students also made an impact on him. He describes the experience as "going back to school" as he learned as much from the students as they learned from him.

Because of the impact Wyclef felt, working with the students, he recently recorded the Wyclef Goes Back to School album. The album contains all original songs produced by Wyclef, but features students from each of the schools visited either as musicians, side artists, etc.

Through this project, Wyclef is striving to create a platform for undiscovered musicians and artists with raw talent who may not have millions of views on YouTube or followers on Social Media. For him, it is ALL about the talent.

"The love and support for the students I am working with has been very special. Blacklane stepped up to make sure we can move around at SXSW with the best service and no stress. They were the first ones to ask how to support our coast-to-coast travel, long before SXSW. They have been a part of Wyclef Goes Back To School since the college and university tour where we found this great talent," Wyclef said about the partnership with Blacklane.

"Music and travel take people to new places. Wyclef and the student musicians inspire us with passion and excellence that perfectly match our service. These elements make this album, Blacklane and Wyclef Jean at SXSW the perfect collaboration," said Norbert Richard Meinike, Blacklane's director of marketing.
