The Stryker / Slagle Band is a rarity in the jazz world. Guitarist Dave Stryker and Saxophonist Steve Slagle have stuck together and have been developing a group sound since the eighties. The Stryker / Slagle Band has released 5 CD's including their most recent CD "Keeper"which is their strongest work yet, and continues to get great reviews. They have taken their unique blend of music all across the US, Europe and Japan.

Dave and Steve consider this band their main focus after years as sidemen with many of the greats. Dave spent over 13 years with Stanley Turrentine, and also worked with Jack McDuff and Kevin Mahogany. He has 20 CD's out as a leader, (many featuring Slagle), and has been a sideman on over 50 others. Stryker was voted a Rising Star the last several years in the Downbeat Critics Poll. Gary Giddins in the Village Voice calls Dave "one of the most distinctive guitarists to come along in recent years."

Saxophonist Steve Slagle has released 10 CD's as a leader, and performed as a sideman on countless others. He has played with Machito, Charlie Haden, Milton Nascimento, Carla Bley, and Joe Lovano's Nonet, to name a few. Steve was musical director of the Mingus Big Band for many years. Jazz Times says, "Slagle ranks in the upper echelon of alto sax players on the scene today."
