San Francisco-duo Love Jerks is exactly that: two jerks in love. It's the offspring of two prominent San Francisco bands: Scissors for Lefty frontman Bryan Garza and Happy Fangs frontwoman Rebecca Garza-Bortman created Love Jerks not long after they got married (and wrote and performed a rock opera for their wedding ceremony). Today, this bold duo, which makes future-sound new wave anthems and dream-pop ballads that leave you no choice but to dance, swoon, or both, premieres its debut song and video, "Scary Things," via Music in SF in anticipation of its debut hometown show. This Saturday, February 24, Love Jerks opens a sold-out Superchunk and Bat Fangs show at Great American Music Hall as part of Noise Pop 2018. If you're wondering how it's preparing for the show, there's a video for that too-watch!

Love Jerks is the offspring of two longtime lead singers-Bryan Garza of Scissors for Lefty(vocals, guitar) and Rebecca Garza-Bortman of Happy Fangs and My First Earthquake (vocals, bass)-Love Jerks was born when these two jerks, yes, fell in love. They met in a rock club; got married in a rock club; and somewhere in between they discovered a mutual affection for The Pretenders, Grimes, Tame Impala, and French pop from the 1960s. The result feels fated: Magnetic melodies, wry lyricism, and a theatrical stage show that the pair bring to life with the help of their third member, a virtual psychedelic animal drummer. "Scary Things" is the first taste of Love Jerks' full-length, due out fall 2018.
