Tony Plana and Erica Gonzaba to Host 36th Annual Tejano Music Awards

The Texas Talent Musicians Association (TTMA), producers of the 36th Annual Tejano Music Awards (TMA's), have announced Saturday, November 12, 2016 as the official date for this year's awards show. This year's awards show will be hosted by Director and Actor Tony Plana well known for playing Betty Suarez's father Ignacio on the show Ugly Betty Singer and TV personality Erica Gonzaba. This will mark its 36th year as the only major and longest-running event to recognize the Tejano Music genre.

This year, the Tobin Center of the Performing Arts will be the place where fans can expect a spectacular show that promises many surprises, exciting musical collaborations, and of course recognition of Tejano's best and brightest stars.

This year's Special Lifetime Achievement Award honoree will be Bob Grever. He was the former owner of the successful Cara Records, and was known as the Motown of Tejano Music. Bob Grever is responsible and contributed to the careers of major recording artist like; Selena, La Mafia, Emilio Navaira and Grupo Mazz. He was one of the main pioneers in the Chicano Tejano Genre and huge contributor of the success of Tejano Music in the early 80's and 90's.

Artists scheduled to perform: Yolanda Del Rio "La Gran Senora De Mexico", Michael Salgado, Raulito y Grupo Remedio, Stefani Montiel, Ricardo Castillon y La Diferenzia, Krazy Pimpz, Javier Galvan, Andres Salgado, Isabel Marie Sanchez, TEXANO LIVE, David Marez, Ricardo Sanchez, Sunny Saucedo, La Sombra, Grupo Ondo, The Last Bandoleros, Grupo Rio and Clay Walker. There will be a special tribute to the "King of Tejano Music" Emilio Navaira , and Divo De Jaurez Juan Gabriel .

Tejano Music Awards Purple Carpet Gala will precede the awards show, where fans and media Will Able to greet the artists upon their arrival for Tejano music's biggest night of the year! Confirmation to walk the purple carpet care: Suzette Quintanilla, Bajo Zero, Yvonne y Fuego, Ricky Valenz, Roy Garcia, Sabor Latino Legacy, Sebastien De La Cruz, Former Kumbia All Starz vocalist Roke, Paula De Anda, Miss Latina San Antonio Natalie Torresdey, Miss Latina San Antonio Teen Francie Millan and many stars.
