Swedish pop trio THE MAGNETTES have returned with a new single, "Young and Wild," out today; listen now on Spotify, SoundCloud and iTunes. The track advances the release of the band's debut full-length album Ugly Youth which will drop this summer. "Young and Wild" first premiered on Kick Kick Snare who raved: "Enter: The Magnettes; my new physiologists, new best friends and band responsible for my new favorite song. I honestly don't even know which lyric to reference because each one cripples me with how personal it feels...I just need some company on the dance floor and 'Young and Wild' at max volume. Who's with me?"
"'Young and Wild' was the last song we wrote for our album, and it's sort of the one that sums it all up," the band explains. "It's about bliss and fearlessness, realizing that the moment you've been waiting for is now and about holding onto one another when things get rough." THE MAGNETTES--co-vocalists Rebecka Digervall and Sanna Kalla, and guitarist/keyboardist/producer Tomas Bäcklund Thuneström--produced Ugly Youth and worked alongside American mixer Christian Cummings, whose credits include Tiësto, Icona Pop, Florence + The Machine's Isabella Summers and OneRepublic's Brent Kutzle. Ugly Youth highlights the band's signature sound: a rebellious spirit, unfiltered and unapologetic views, paired with sugary sweet, infectious beats. "We're reclaiming the word 'ugly,'" declares Sanna. "Why does beautiful have to be the standard? Why can't anything that is not totally perfect be cool? We have no regrets. We're saying exactly what we want to say."Videos
