String Chamber Group Sybarite5 to Play SubCulture, 6/8
String Chamber Group Sybarite5 will showcase their mastery violin, cello, viola and bass playing, with rearrangements of songs by the likes of Radiohead and Led Zeppelin, at SubCulture on Saturday June 8th at 7:30pm. Doors open at 6:30 pm.
During their debut performance at SubCulture, they will perform songs from their last five-track EP disc, Disturb the Silence which made its debut at number 11 on Billboard's Classical Crossover chart.
Meld your favorite rock band and a dose of popular music with classical 5-piece chamber group, and you get SYBARITE5! Comprised of Sami Merdinian and Sarah Whitney, violins; Angela Pickett, viola; Laura Metcalf, cello; and Louis Levitt, bass, their eclectic repertoire and original covers galvanize the audience at each performance.
Touring around such places as Library of Congress, Aspen Music Festival, and in New York at Lincoln Center, they have also played for his Holiness, the Dalai Lama. In 2011, they became the first string quintet selected as a winner of the Concert Artists Guild International Competition in its 60 year history. SYBARITE5 will transform the perception of chamber music for every listener, playing everything from Mozart to Radiohead through Dvorak and Led Zeppelin. Their work has been praised by The Washington Post, Strings Magazine and The Sarasota Herald Tribune.
