Teenage singer/dancer Brooke Hyland of the popular Lifetime Channel reality series "Dance Moms," is following up her hit single last year with a debut album, titled "Brooke Hyland," set for release on Aug. 13 through Whatta Guy Music.
"After working so hard in the recording studio, I'm very excited about my debut album," said Brooke, whose show is now in its third season. It airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m.on Lifetime.
At 15, Brooke is the oldest of the girls on "Dance Moms" which features the outspoken dance teacher Abby Lee Miller. Brooke understands Abby's desire for hard work and giving one's all for dancing and she has transferred this work ethic into her singing career.
Brooke, who has been one of the stars of the dance group since the show began, is concentrating on extending that success into a music career. Starting with a hit single last year, the new album is set to launch next month. It will be available on iTunes and elsewhere.
Her hit single "Summer Love Song," was featured on the show and was a huge draw on YouTube: http://youtu.be/5BnA__DVfPQ
Brooke, who has been dancing since she was a toddler, mastered dancing on pointe (a special technique for ballet dancers) when she was 9. Brooke's natural ability has always fostered a "special relationship" with Abby Lee Miller over the years.
Although this season will focus on more drama with Brooke and her relationship with Abby, Brooke is nonetheless excited about the success of the show, which has been a key element for Lifetime's recent ratings growth.
"There are always a lot of things happening on the show with the moms, Abby and the kids, so I still enjoy being a part of it," she said.
Brooke is currently filming "Dance Moms," and is set to appear at the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday, Aug. 11. The awards show is scheduled to air on Fox Broadcasting.
