Musician, singer, and songwriter, Lilla releases her second album, "The Awakening," just one week after graduating from Berklee College of Music. A unique blend of soul, hip hop, jazz, and reggae, "The Awakening" is reminiscent of music from a young Erykah Badu or Sade. Lilla's music evokes the listener's consciousness, her sultry and soulful vocals clearly reflecting influences of Nina Simone and Billie Holiday, creating a deep connection with a persistent reminder, "it's time for us to wake up!"

A musician her whole life, Lilla taught herself piano at age 6 and began singing with her local gospel choir at age 14. Throughout high school, she provided stage and studio vocals for several hip-hop and R&B acts, as well as sang and toured the East Coast with the internationally recognized Royal Blues. In addition to singing and playing piano, Lilla also plays guitar, and writes and produces most of her own music.

Since the success of her first record, Music Trance, Lilla has honed her performance skills, playing shows both nationally and internationally from Kingston, Jamaica to Beijing, China. She has shared the stage with artists such as Annie Lennox, WIllie Nelson, Mos Def, Esperanza Spalding, Boyz II Men, Wu-Tang Clan, and more. Lilla's songwriting and performance skills, backed by her incredible band, make her a force to be reckoned with both on stage and in the studio.

"The Awakening is a testament to the power of music and its ability to bring together music, culture, and people from around the globe," says Lilla. Self-produced, the album was recorded partially at Bob Marley's studio, Tuff Gong Studios, in Kingston, Jamaica. It features Earl Chinna Smith, who played guitar with Marley, and Christopher Merdith, who recorded on The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.
