Sheila E's New Album ICON Now Available

World-class drummer and percussionist Sheila Escovedo's first CD in 13 years, ICON, is available today at all major digital stores. "We are excited about the release, particularly of the multi-genre format that reflects Sheila E.'s broad artistry and experience," stated manager Gilbert Davison. "2014 marks Sheila's 40th anniversary in the music business and what better way to celebrate than to release a new CD."

An accomplished and much sought after musician, since the age of 15, Sheila's credits read like chapters in a music history book: Ringo Starr, Marvin Gaye, Prince, Beyoncé, Herbie Hancock, Diana Ross, Lionel Richie, Gloria Estefan and George Duke. She is also an Emmy and Grammy Award-nominated singer/songwriter behind the seminal hits "The Glamorous Life" and "A Love Bizarre," and a multi-instrumentalist who is equally proficient on guitar and bass.

The first single, "Mona Lisa" is already buzzing with a video that showcases Sheila's passion and energy as a performer. You can hear the song and view the video on her website, www.sheilae.com. "Mona Lisa" will be followed by singles "Fiesta," featuring B. Slade, and "Lovely Day." The video for "Fiesta," shot in Oakland on March 23, features some of Sheila's hometown fans. "I have some of the best and most loyal fans around," stated Sheila. "What better way to have a 'Fiesta' than to invite them to join me in Oakland where I was born and raised."

In addition to the release of the album, Sheila will be honored at Hispanicize 2014 where she will be receiving the Latinovator Award as well as performing at the event on April 3, 2014. The conference takes place in Miami April 1 - 4, 2014. http://www.hispanicizeevent.com

"I can't believe it's been 40 years since I began my career in the music business. I have been blessed to make music with some of the most incredible artists in the world," stated Sheila. "The past year has been very introspective for me. I have a book coming out in September, 'THE BEAT OF MY OWN DRUM' and while writing it I was inspired to begin work on what has become Icon. This album represents my musical journey and the different paths I have been blessed to travel. I'm excited and proud of this music."
