Renowned jazz singer Barbara Morrison will perform with the Bu Crew at the Catalina Bar & Grill on Friday and Saturday. The show begins at 8:30 p.m.

Morrison's latest CD, released in June, 2014, "I Love You, Yes I Do," featuring saxophonist Houston Person reached No. 4 on the JazzWeek.com national chart in July. It spent three straight weeks in the top 10 and eight in the top 20 and includes "And I Love Him" written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, "For the Love of You" written by the Isley Brothers and Christopher Jasper, "I Didn't Know What Time It Was" written by Richard Rogers and Lorenz Hart, "Black Eyed Blues" written by Joe Cocker and Chris Sainton, "Canadian Sunset" written by Norma Gimbel and Eddie Heywood Jr. and "I Love You, Yes I Do" written by Henry Glover and Sally Nix.

The Bu Crew is comprised of pianist Ron Bishop, Ricky Taylor on bass, guitarist Charles Small and Fred Dinkins on drums.

Morrison was nominated for her third Grammy in 2014 for "The L.A. Treasures Project," performed with vocalist Ernie Andrews and the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra in the Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album category. Morrison's previous Grammy nominations were in 1982 for vocals on "You're Driving Me Crazy" with Johnny Otis' The Spirit of Black Territory Band and in 1999 for producing a jazz album for Al McKibbon.

Morrison performs a wide-range of songs including those originally done by Dinah Washington, Billie Holiday, Al Green and Smokey Robinson. In 2014, Morrison performed before sell-out crowds at the Kerrytown Concert House in Ann Arbor, Mich., the Detroit Jazz Festival and the Sunset at Newport Series at the Newport Beach, Calif., Marriott. She has been featured in over 20 recordings and performed with a cavalcade of stars including Carlos Santana, Buddy Guy, Dizzy Gillespie, Ray Charles, Etta James, Otis, Wilson, the Count Basie Orchestra and Tony Bennett. She has toured nationally and internationally.

Tickets for Morrison's performance at the Catalina Bar & Grill-regarded by many as the premier jazz club in metro Los Angeles-are $20 on Friday and $25 on Saturday. Reservations can be made by calling 323-466-2210 or emailing ticketmaster@catalinajazzclub.com. The Catalina Bar & Grill is located at 6725 W. Sunset Boulevard, Hollywood, Calif.
