N.Y.C.K Debuts New Single and Video 'Wild Streak'

It's the things we do in the bad times that enchant the story of 'Wild Streak', the aching new single from Melbourne duo N.Y.C.K. (Dominique Garrard and Nicholas Acquroff). When everything falls apart, our wild streak comes to the fore.

'Wild Streak' documents a night out in visceral detail. Two friends in a local bar on a night that gets way out of hand, in all the ways they knew it would before they started. It is the push and pull on every big night out. The searching for limits. The competing voices that tell you to "stay out, keep going, go too far, buy this, kiss her, snort that". And then on the other side they whisper "calm down, listen to your body, go the f*ck home".

The single is accompanied by a video which acts as the perfect visual to the track. The film was shot in a stunning abode in regional Victoria by the team at Wildebeest with Creative Direction from Jarred Osbourne who explains, "I wanted it to feel nostalgic, relatable, and stark. And simply for the audience to feel it was a slice of life they could relate to. It was made possible because Nick articulates his feelings so beautifully, and the actors were able to find the nuances that created a really connection.

Like opening a diary, 'Wild Streak' is the kind of raw portrayal that a writer wouldn't want anyone to read. It's lashed with hedonism and regret, stuck on the desolate lows and ecstatic highs that are so close together in the bad times. Ultimately, it touches on one of life's great truths: when we go through hard times, wildness prevails.

N.Y.C.K. tell stories about the human form; about our proclivity as people to be vicious and beautiful, kind and cold, chaotic and orderly - all at the same time. 'Wild Streak' the duo's first single since the release of their stunning debut EP Alive (2017) which featured fan favourites 'Speak My Mind', 'Decision' and 'This Might Be My Year'.
