Infinitely inspired by the atmosphere of pop, Angelica Allen, also known by the moniker My Midnight Heart, sings to her own beat. Her melodies, undeniably distinct, are a beacon of both darkness and light. Having released her debut EP Chest of Hearts in 2013 to critical acclaim, the siren has returned to release two short EPs this month, Drown and Break.

Drawing comparisons to early Mariah Carey, Tori Amos and Kate Bush for her vocals, which are at once soulful and feather-light, Allen's minimalist style of writing lyrics allows her to craft unique hooks. "Break" features dissonant harmonies and a shift in instrumentation, incorporating organic elements into its electro-pop core. "Salome" begins with a gentle melancholy melody before building to a darker finale.

Angelica took full creative control of her recent singles, both sonically and aesthetically, and created the otherworldly video collages which accompany the tracks and bring them further to life. Click the links to watch "Break" and "Salome"!

My Midnight Heart has shared stages with Solange, Tegan and Sara, Blood Orange and Nick Waterhouse among others. Those who have been unable to experience My Midnight Heart's incredible live dynamics can catch her live in Brooklyn next month at the Brooklyn Night Bazaar on 3/13, with Ex Cops and Heart.
