Music Mountain, America's oldest continuing summer chamber music festival, continues its extraordinary 87th Anniversary Season with the inspiring Cassatt String Quartet with guest artist, Colin Carr, cello on Sunday, June 26th (3PM) performing Tchaikowsky and Shubert. The New Black Eagle Jazz Band returns to Music Mountain on Saturday, June 25th (6:30pm) playing the best of traditional New Orleans jazz plus blues and rags. The summer will feature 15 weekends of incredible music including returning favorite chamber ensembles and musicians (pianists Peter Serkin and Julia Hsu), first-time guests (pianist Richard Goode), the ever-popular Saturday Evening Twilight Series, featuring an array of Jazz ensembles and musicians, including the talented artists of the Catskill Jazz Factory, and the second season of the new Music Mountain Master Classes for Young Artists plus so much more! See why the New Yorker called Music Mountain "The Summer Shrine of the String Quartet." Concerts are scheduled through September 11.

If you like the uplifting and soulful music of New Orleans, you'll love the sound of the New Black Eagle Jazz Band when they return to Music Mountain on Saturday evening! The band has been delighting audiences all over the world for four decades with their huge and eclectic repertoire of jazz from the 1920's and 30's including Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton, Duke Ellington, Cole Porter and more! Get ready to dance 'til sunset with this joyful and high-spirited group! Start the evening with a pre-concert dinner at the historic Falls Village Inn! $70 ticket includes 5PM dinner plus the 6:30PM concert! Seating is limited. Sunday afternoon welcomes Cassatt String Quartet with guest Colin Carr, cello performing Tchaikowsky: String Quartet in D Major, Opus 11; and Schubert: Cello Quintet in C Major, D 956, Opus 163.

Acclaimed as one of America's outstanding ensembles, the Manhattan based Cassatt String Quartet has performed throughout North America, Europe, and the Far East. Equally adept at classical masterpieces and contemporary music, the Cassatt has collaborated with a remarkable array of artists/composers. With a deep commitment to nurturing young musicians, the Cassatt, in residencies at Princeton, Yale, Syracuse University, the University at Buffalo and the University of Pennsylvania, has devoted itself to coaching, conducting sectionals and reading student composers' works, while offering lively musical presentations in music theory, history and composition.

Cellist Colin Carr appears throughout the world as a soloist, chamber musician, recording artist, and teacher. He has played with major orchestras throughout the United States and Europe and is a frequent visitor to international chamber music festivals worldwide. Mr. Carr has held professor positions at the Royal Academy of Music and St. John's College, Oxford. In 2002 he became Professor of Music, Cello and Chamber Music at Stony Brook University.

Music Mountain is located in Falls Village, Connecticut on Music Mountain Road, where a short scenic drive will bring you to Gordon Hall atop Music Mountain. Free parking and picnic facilities are available. Food, locally baked cookies and brownies, coffee, tea, lemonade, and spring water are available for purchase.

Chamber music concerts continue with Cantata Profana (July 3), Peter Serkin and Julia Hsu (July 10), Enso String Quartet with Daniel Epstein, piano (July 17), and Avalon String Quartet with Soyeon Kate Lee, piano (July 24).

The Saturday Evening Twilight Series continues with Swingtime Big Band (July 2), Vince Giordano & The Nighthawks (July 9), Joanna Wallfisch (July 16), and Dan Tepfer (July 23).

Specially Priced Concerts are as Follows: All tickets to the Peter Serkin/Julia Hsu, Piano 4 Hands Concert on Sunday, July 10 are $60. Tickets for the Mid-Summer Benefit Concert with pianist Richard Goode on Sunday, July 31 (3PM) are $75 and include a voucher for any regularly priced 2016 concert. Tickets for the Labor Day Benefit Concert & Reception with the Shanghai String Quartet, and pianists Gilbert Kalish and Jonathan Yates are $75 and include a voucher for any regularly priced 2017 concert.

The 87th season will continue to offer two ticketing options to complement the established family friendly ticket prices! Concert goers will be able to reserve their favorite seat(s) in advance for a one-time payment of $60 per seat, per season. Major Gold Pass benefits include: Admission to all concerts; Priority Reserved Seating (subject to availability); $20 price for one guest per Gold Pass. Chamber Music Concerts are $35 at the door/$30 in advance. Twilight Series Concerts are $30 at the door/$27 in advance. Pre-Concert Dinner is $70 and includes admission to Saturday evening concert. Children ages 5-18 are admitted FREE for ALL CONCERTS when accompanied by a ticket holder. Saturday Twilight Concerts are at 6:30pm. Sunday afternoon Chamber Music concerts are at 3pm.
