Kid Koala Releases HERA'S SONG feat. Trixie Whitley Via Clash Magazine

Visionary scratch DJ and producer Kid Koala (aka Eric San) returns today with yet another stunning single from his upcoming album Music To Draw To: Io slated for release on January 25th via Arts & Crafts. The new track entitled "Hera's Song" premiered today via Clash Magazine and features the impassioned vocals of album collaboratorTrixie Whitley, underscored by Kid Koala's darkest electronic musings. About the new single, San comments:

"This is my favorite track on the album. Trixie really channeled something here. She sounds like she's sharpening her knives the whole performance. I was so stunned by her vocal take that I had to go back and rebuild the music altogether. This is probably the most sinister track I've ever recorded."

The song embodies the character of Hera in Greek mythology, the vindictive wife of Zeus whose jealous wrath targeted her husband's love interest, Io. This interplay is the inspiration for the album's turbulent tale of modern global psyche, transcendently personified by Whitley at the centre of this vivid universe of characters. Whitley says:

"Hera is a malevolent and vengeful character. I had a lot of fun imagining what her spirit could sound like when performing this tune."

"Hera's Song" follows the release of previous album singles "All For You" featuring Trixie Whitley and the instrumental "Allotropic". All tracks will be included on the eighteen trackMusic To Draw To: Io, a collection of transportive electronic and ambient creations available on pre-order in double vinyl, deluxe sketchbook CD, and all digital formats now. The 70 minute ambient/vocal collaboration is a constellation of electronic meditations that glint with Whitley's otherworldly blues, inspired by music that allows space for the listener's own ideas. The first volume of the series was 2017's Music To Draw To: Satellite, which featured vocalist Emilíana Torríni, and received praise from Pitchfork, Bandcamp, VICE, and more.

Earlier this year, Kid Koala released the Floor Kids Original Video Game Soundtrack, a 42-track collection featuring 71 minutes of original hip-hop and breaks music from the award-winning video game (on PS4, XBOX, Nintendo Switch, Steam), adding another dimension to the universe of multimedia projects San has built over his twenty-year career.

To celebrate the launch of the new album, Kid Koala will be hosting 'Music To Draw To' sessions, beginning with four launch events at Montreal's SATosphere dome, featuring Whitley and visuals by chemical puppeteer Karina Bleau. San is also touring his Satellite Turntable Orchestra and Nufonia Must Fall concerts globally this year. See below for a full list of tour dates, and tickets are available here.
