Matisyahu is set to play Monday, February 4 at 7:30 p.m. at the Kentucky Center's Brown Theatre.

When Matisyahu released his debut album in 2004, Shake Off the Dust...Arise, his musical persona was a novelty: a Hasidic Jew with a full beard and long curls, dressed in a black suit with a broad-brimmed black hat worn over a yarmulke, who rapped in the Jamaican dancehall style. However, Matisyahu was serious about his craft, and his diverse style soon garnered Grammy nominations, gold record certifications, and a broad audience.

On his latest release, Spark Seeker, Matisyahu sings of spiritual freedom, while letting go of his trademark look. The performer describes his new music as "an evolution... with more of a sort of pop, urban hip-hop kind of feel to it, mixed with a world music vibe."
