J2 records is proud to announce the CD release of "Joan Curto Sings Cole Porter: From Major To Minor," the highly anticipated new studio recording from acclaimed award-winning vocalist Joan Curto. Called "a cabaret icon" by NBC TV and praised by the Chicago Tribune's noted jazz critic Howard Reich as "a seasoned interpreter who makes the most of every note. Joan offers listeners a glimpse into the extensive catalogue of Porter, a supreme master of sophisticated popular song. Praised by the Chicago Sun Times for her "bold, brassy voice" the recording is a winning collection of classic ballads, standards and jazz favorites. With Joan's musical versatility, the recording is a showcase for what After Dark Chicago calls "a voice that can pierce the listeners heart as equally as it caresses the ear."

To kick off the CD release, Curto will be performing her acclaimed live show Joan Curto Sings Cole Porter - From Major to Minor for 4 special performances only at Davenport's. Located at 1383 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago,show times are July 11. 12, 19 & 20, 2013 at 8:00pm. There is a $20 cover charge and two-drink minimum. She has performed at many of the country's most prestigious music venues including New York's Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Metropolitan Room, The Gardenia in Los Angeles, The Sharon Lynne Wilson Center in Milwaukee, The Colony Room in Palm Beach, and sold out concerts at Chicago's Auditorium Theatre, Harris Theater, Park West, Maxim's, the ASCAP and Chicago Humanities Festival concert series and the Mabel Mercer Foundation's Chicago Cabaret Convention.

Providing musical to support to Joan's amazing vocals are some of Chicago's top musician's including Beckie Menzie on piano and who also supplied musical direction and arrangements, Jim Cox on bass, and Phil Gratteu on percussion.
