Broadway superstar and internationally renown recording artist Harry Connick Jr. was recently announced as a new judge for the long-running reality singing competition AMERICAN IDOL and the capable crooner has taken to Twitter to ruffle some feathers following recent negative remarks made on the series from former judge Mariah Carey.

Carey was quoted earlier this week as comparing her time spent on the show to "going to work every day in hell with Satan," (here) with many assuming the latter reference pointed to the much-publicized dislike of Carey for fellow former judge, rapper Nicki Minaj.

Connick Jr. first comedically posted in response to the assertion by Carey, writing, "when @MariahCarey spoke of "satan" she wasn't referring to @NICKIMINAJ. it was @KeithUrban. he's hot and plays the hell out of the guitar."

Next, Connick Jr. followed up, stating, "hey @MariahCarey - must've been hard to judge in hell... @AmericanIdol XIII is heaven! @JLo @KeithUrban @RyanSeacrest @YO_RANDYJACKSON".

Later today, Connick posted, "btw, i LOVE @MariahCarey !!! no hate for that sweet lady - i just feel bad that she didn't have what we have - the best @AmericanIdol ever!"

So, do you think Carey's comment was out of line or has Harry overstepped his own social media boundaries?
