First Annual Asbury Park Music in Film Festival Announce Major Live Events
The inaugural Asbury Park Music in Film Festival (APMFF) unveils a jam-packed destination weekend of films and performances celebrating music in film, to be held April 10-12, 2015 in Asbury Park, New Jersey.
On Saturday afternoon the 1pm matinee at Asbury Lanes features the after party for 'Rye Coalition: The Story of the Hard Luck Five," with performances by Rye Coalition off shoots, Cold Fur, Sunshine and The Rain, Thee Money Shot. Following it up that evening, The Stone Pony is the setting for "Funk That Bass," the after party for the weekend's feature presentation of "Jaco" by Metallica's Robert Trujillo. The party will feature an all-star band of funk and rock heavies held down by funk pioneer, Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame inductee and Jersey Shore native Bernie Worrell, singers Bernard Fowler (The Rolling Stones/Chic), Corey Glover (Living Colour/Galactic), Stax legend William Bell, Asbury Park soul legend JT Bowen (Clarence Clemons and The Red Bank Rockers) and Asbury Park's own Nicole Atkins, Dean Ween (Ween) and musical director Marc Ribler on guitar. Recently added are Asbury Park's finest on drums Sim Cain (Ween/Rollins Band), Steve Wolf (Alicia Keys), bassist extraordinaire Melvin Gibbs, Jack Daley, TM Stevens, and Metallica's Robert Trujillo.
APMFF will also show over fifty submissions from local, national, and international filmmakers, as well as celebrated music films Salad Days, A Band Called Death, Take Me To The River, Riot on the Dance Floor, Rye Coalition: The Story of the Hard Luck Five, Made in Japan, multiple short films from director Danny Clinch, and a short film and performance by the legendary DMC and his son Dson. Many screenings will feature unique opportunities to speak with the directors and producers about their work.
