Following in the footsteps of stars like Kevin Durant, Carrie Underwood has donated $1 million dollars for disaster relief, USA Today reports. Underwood grew up in Checotah, Oklahoma so when the tornado hit, it hit her extremely hard.

She has announced that she is donating the money from her recent Blown Away Tour. She is donating the money to the Red Cross in an effort to alleviate some of the damage and suffering caused by the storm.

Underwood said this in a statement 'I have watched the devastation in my home state of Oklahoma over the past several days with great sadness...With the help of my fans who attended my concerts over the past year, we can offer the Red Cross a little extra help in comforting those affected by the recent tornados.'

Fellow Country Star Blake Shelton has organized a benefit concert called 'Healing in the Heartland' which will be held on May 29th at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City. This show will be televised live on NBC.
