Singer/songwriter/electric-violinist/poet/rocker Bitch takes the stage at Knitting Factory on Saturday, March 27, celebrating the release of Blasted! with a live concert appearance. This not-to-be-missed event will showcase material featured on Bitch's new release - a sonic jump that mixes her love of record production with her signature electric-violin-poetic-rock. Performance begins at 8:30 PM.

Bitch's musical journey has taken her from classical-violin training in the suburbs to experimental flicks in NYC. After leaving the outskirts of Detroit for the artier charms of Chicago-Bitch's unconventional and outspoken approach to performance caught the attention of a number of indie luminaries. She took fiddling lessons with Andrew Bird, serendipitously stumbled upon future co-conspirator, Animal at acting school, moved to New York to make their own 'theater' (Bitch and Animal) and recorded and toured with Ani DiFranco (who released Bitch and Animal's records on Righteous Babe). Bitch's out-of-the-ordinary message resonated with a generation of gender non-conformists, attracting the likes of New York theater legend John Cameron Mitchell (Hedwig and the Angry Inch), who tapped her star power for his Cannes Fest favorite, Shortbus. She went on to release her first solo album on the legendary Kill Rock Stars label, entitled Make This/Break This, a record that charted rockier terrain and earned her critical success.

In 2008, Bitch set out independently, launching her own record label, Short Story Records, along with a side project, the group Bitch and the Exciting Conclusion. She also found time to produce an album for critically acclaimed Canadian songwriter, poet and folk hero Ferron and released it on Short Story Records. Bitch added musical performances by Ani DiFranco, Samantha Parton from Be Good Tanyas, JD Samson (Le Tigre) and the Indigo Girls.

Bitch's one-night-only concert appearance takes place Saturday, March 27 @ 8:30 PM. Knitting Factory is located at 361 Metropolitan Ave in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Tickets are $10 in advance / $12 at the door and are available by phone (347) 529-6696 x 424 or online at bk.knittingfactory.com
