Blake Shelton Backlash Continues with 'March' on Nashville to Support Traditional Country Music, 4/17

By:

The furor raging around country recording artist Blake Shelton when he publicly said "older people who do not buy my CDs or concert tickets are old farts and jackasses" has advanced to a state of war in Nashville, Tennessee.

A "March" on Nashville is now scheduled for April 17 beginning at 11am at Tony Rose Park (08 Music Circle East) with the march going down Music Row, ending at the offices of the Country Music Association, which has virtually eliminated 'traditional' country music from their objectives. There will be a free concert of "traditional American music" by participating musicians following the march.

A petition is now circulating to accomplish two things for the worldwide fans of traditional American country music. One to encourage record companies, producers, and recording artists to actually record more traditional country music, bluegrass and folk music, and another demanding radio stations (with emphasis on Clear Channel Radio) that program country music, to include a far larger portion of time devoted to traditional country music, bluegrass and folk music. An additional petition demanding the removal of Blake Shelton from the Grand Ole Opry is also being circulated.

The main petition is located HERE.

The petition is being circulated through two traditional music associations. Maggie Penn's Traditional Music Foundation at mpenn44234@aol.com, and Bob Everhart's National Traditional Country Music Association at bobeverhart@yahoo.com.
