Big Bad Voodoo Daddy Brings High-Energy Swing And Jazz To The Eccles Center

Contemporary swing revival band Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, arrives in Park City on December 20. The band will perform as part of the Park City Institute's 20th Anniversary Main Stage Season at the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Center.

"Big Bad Voodoo Daddy has sold out concerts from the Hollywood Bowl to Lincoln Center, with their contemporary take on classic jazz and swing," said PCI Executive Director Teri Orr. "This is a show where you'll be dancing in your seat."

The band will play a show filled with iconic hits like, ""Go Daddy-O", and "You & Me & the Bottle Makes 3 Tonight (Baby)", as well as tracks from their just-released 11th studio album, "Louie, Louie, Louie," celebrating the music of Louis Armstrong, Louis Jordan, and Louis Prima.

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, co-founded by singer Scotty Morris and drummer Kurt Sodergren, created a swing revival-in the midst of the grunge-band 90s-that has lasted nearly 25 years. Jazz Times says, "The horns are crisp and rousing, the rhythm section boils, the soloists soar."

In addition to Morris (lead vocals and guitar), and Sodergren (drums), the band's all-original lineup includes: Dirk Shumaker (double bass, vocals), Andy Rowley (baritone saxophone and vocals), Glen "the Kid" Marhevka (trumpet), Karl Hunter (saxophones and clarinet) and Joshua Levy (piano and arranger). has celebrated America's original musical art from, jazz and swing, for nearly 25 years. Fans have heard their music at a Super Bowl Halftime show, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, in the 90's cult classic indie-film, "Swingers," and in countless films and TV shows-including a live appearance on "Dancing With the Stars". Big Bad Voodoo Daddy has also appeared as special guests with many of the country's most distinguished symphony orchestras, and has performed for three U.S. Presidents.
