Review: Sara Bareilles Drops 'Fire' New Single

The queen of kindness and goodness (hey Waitress the Musical reference) first hit us with the powerful anthem "Armor" and now she's hitting even harder with her "Fire" new single.

The single comes from Sara Bareilles' highly anticipated album Amidst The Chaos set to release on April 5.

The powerhouse vocalist opens the track with hums then launches into the first verse "Doors clicks while his wheels start spinning on the pavement/ And I go fill the space up where he has been staying/ Won't lose much sleep, he never went that deep/ Love you? Oh you sweet thing, no I never said that."

She sings about the acceptance of an ending relationship that wasn't thrilling to begin with, knowing one day she'll find the right guy eventually. All hail Ms. Bareilles for being such a superior songwriter.

The single spotlights the subversive strength of her easily detectable voice. Backed by acoustic guitar and a quivering beat, she radiates the verses before kindling an obvious and armored (no pun intended) refrain.

"We were/ We were never gonna catch fire/ We'd have burned up in the flames/ Long before they ever rose up higher/ Someday I/ I won't have to feel the cold/ But I do now so I'll know/ What it feels like when I feel fire/ Fire," the songstress sings in the chorus.

The connection between fire/cold is prevalent and makes one think about happiness/sadness. There's the realization how the existence of one is essential to the existence of the other. Whew, Sara a teacher of emotions too? She's a friend we need.

The release of the two singles so far showcases how much she's grown as an artist and songwriter and if this is any indication of how the rest of the record is going to sound, it's going to be superb!
