Owlsong Productions and Latin American Cultural Week of New York City present "The Spanish Mezzo&Soprano" Ana María Ruimonteperforming a two-part concert of Classical, Jazz, Flamenco, and Sephardic music at the National Opera Center, a bilingual, world fusion event.

Fresh from her sold out performances at the Philadelphia Art Alliance,Ana María Ruimonte, renowned as "The Spanish Mezzo&Soprano" for her ability to sing in both the mezzo and soprano voices, will headline two concerts at the National Opera Center at 330 7th Ave in Midtown Manhattan on Saturday evening, November 14, 2015.

Presented in conjunction with Owlsong Productions and Latin American Cultural Week of New York City, the first part at 7:15 p.m. is titled "Cantos de Alma y Vida de Mujer" (Songs of the Soul and Life of a Woman), presenting Ana María accompanied by Cuban-American pianist Lucia Arner performing songs in Spanish and about the culture of Spain from opera and zarzuela and contemporary composers, as well as songs from Cuban composer Ernesto Lecuona and selections from Enric Granados' Tonadillas Escenicas in commemoration of the centenary of his death. The Tonadillas were inspired by the paintings of Francisco Goya, in whose Madrid neighborhoods Ana María lived many years. The program celebrates the release of Ana María Ruimonte's latest Owlsong CD Alma y Vida de Mujer (OWL15111).

At 8:30 p.m., Ana María will be joined by jazz bassist and composerAlan Lewine, to perform as Mezzo Meets Bass (or MMB, formerly known as Soprano Meets Contrabass) supplemented by the fabulousRex Benincasa on percussion and other guests. MMB presents a unique world music fusion of classical, jazz and flamenco influences featuring mostly Spanish-language source material that gives listeners"8 Centuries of Music in about an Hour!" A typical concert includes Sephardic songs from 14th and 15th century Spain; 16th and 17thCentury Spanish songs; selections from classical arias and art songs of the 18th and 19th centuries; zarzuela, Cuban chachachá and Mexican boleros from the 20th century; also contemporary works from the 21stcentury, including compositions by Lewine.

Ana María Ruimonte, from Madrid, Spain, relocated for love to the Philadelphia area about two years ago. She has appeared throughout Europe, Israel and the U.S., including regularly with the National Orchestra and Chorus of Spain, and before that with Madrid's Royal Opera at Teatro Real, performing with many of the world's biggest stars (e.g., Plácido Domingo, Montserrat Caballé, Dolora Zajick, and Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos). Ana Maria has appeared on several opera DVDs, on Spanish National Radio and Television and on CDs on Deutsche Grammophon and other labels. Domestically, she has performed in operas and recitals at Lincoln Center in New York, as well as in New Mexico, Colorado and throughout the northeast corridor in the US, and presented these two shows internationally in Spain, Belgium, Holland and Israel. Ana María and Alan recently appeared and performed together on the long-running TV program Puerto Rican Panorama on Philadelphia's ABC6.
